After three decades of retail management, I made a change. While pursuing a degree in
journalism, I experience the art and joy of photography. I was writing and photographing
a story for the college newspaper when I came across the video and film department.
The contact with that department peaked my interest, so I took a video course, beginning
an odyssey of love. Something that began as an aspiration became a passion. My first
projects were historical documentaries. This led to a training video for a San Diego
school district that has led to a video production business.
I have had numerous promotion projects for schools and some retail businesses. At this
time, I'm mostly involved with what is considered California's model after school
program that boasts a 90% attendance from its parent school. The program is sought
after for training and modeling for programs locally and around the state.
The school district I work with has the largest middle school program in California
and has provided me many wonderful opportunities, such as an anti-bullying series in
cooperation with a San Diego State University. The project includes reenactments,
photography, motion graphics, narration and music scored for the project. My hope
is it will be of great benefit to the students, instructors and parents that see the series.
I have video taped many travels in preparation for special interest travel videos, some
of which include Yellowstone, Teton and Yosemite National parks including abundant
wildlife coverage.
I am also working in collaboration with other writers in the development of a world
travel program and a gold panning series. The stars of these projects include a
national champion and the oldest person to complete a world quest. We have great
hopes for these projects.
Finally, another independent project is approaching the final post-production phase.
It is the story of the creation of the Otay Mountain Wilderness area. The story includes
interviews with U.S. Congressman, federal officers and environmentalists involved in
the legislation along with aerial film footage of the area.
As you can see, the passion has became a love of an art form that is not work but just plain fun.
